Pink Floyd Pompeii

Sony Music

>Project Details

Adrian Maben’s 1972 film of Pink Floyd at Pompeii has been restored and remastered.

The film captures the band at a moment of transition, from late 60s psychedelic improvisers into the long form concept LP group they would become with Dark Side of the Moon. This is the first official release of the soundtrack LP.

The groundbreaking film shows the band performing in the Roman amphitheatre without an audience. It also includes behind-the-scenes footage of them beginning work on The Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road Studios.

The cover is a treatment of a shot by Jacques Boumendil.

The cosmic collage and solarised look are inspired by LP covers, poster art and the underground press of the period.

Campaign art includes imagery created from the film and from photographic archives.
